The tip is the bill amount multiplied by the tip percentage, rounded to the nearest cent. Enter the pre-tax or post-tax amount, whichever you tip on.
The bill plus tip is divided evenly by the number of people and rounded to the nearest cent. With round up on, each share is rounded up to the next whole dollar, so the group slightly overpays.
Customs differ by country and venue; in the US 15% to 20% is common in restaurants, while in the UK, Australia and New Zealand tipping is often smaller or optional. Check the bill for a service charge first.
